Overview:
The Operating Engineer operates, repairs and monitors operation of building equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Hours: 230pm-1030pm and E/O weekend rotation

Responsibilities/Job Description:
- Maintains knowledge of, and follows all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
- Actively participates in crafting and implementing improvements.
- Operates high/low pressure boiler heating system and air conditioning equipment.
- Repairs steam plank equipment, plumbing, structure, heating, air conditioning and electrical equipment.
- Completes monitoring and repairs in accordance with operating procedures, manufacturer guidelines, OSHA, State and Federal regulations.
- Monitors equipment to ensure accurate temperature and pressure readings/settings.
- Maintains records on equipment repairs, safety inspections, and preventive maintenance. Communicates supply shortages to others as needed.
- Answers all departmental telephone calls and or work requests received and enters on work order system to ensure timely response to inquiries or problems.
- Consults with and advises supervisor regarding problems with operation of the building and reports all repairs and maintenance that require assistance from maintenance engineer or outside services.
- Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment and makes recommendations and improvement of safety. Wears safety equipment as appropriate.
- Ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
- Communicates in a respective manner and ensures a safe, secure environment.
- Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver.
- Fulfills all organizational and learning requirements relevant to the role.
- Supports improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3 years’ experience required in operating, heating and cooling systems and maintaining building structures and grounds.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques used in high/low pressure steam heating or power plant operation
- If located at St. Joes and St. Johns, minimum License 1B Class Boiler (C-1B) through MN Department of Labor and Industry
- If located at Midway, minimum License 1C Class Boiler (C-1C) through MN Department of Labor and Industry
Preferred Qualifications
- 2B Class Boilers license for Bethesda Wellness Hub through MN Department of Labor and Industry
