Full Job Description
A large condominium (100+ units) in N.W. Washington DC seeks an experienced On-Site General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for all operational aspects of the building, including, but not limited to: Building staff management, resident relationship management, vendor relationship management, assistance with preparing annual budgets, routine building inspections, and management of building repairs/projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and the ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner in all situations. He/She carries out specific duties in a timely and cost-effective manner and reports directly into the management company and board of directors. This position has supervisor responsibilities.
Required Skills and Experience:
Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of condominium management (or equivalent relevant experience) as an On-Site or Property Manager or General Manager for community associations.
- Must have property Management certifications through Community Associations Institute (CAI), Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) or equivalent.
- Must have experience in successfully managing and motivating building staff
- Knowledge and experience with general maintenance procedures, plumbing, HVAC, electrical/mechanical systems, water leak mitigation.
- Ability to maintain productive and positive communications with the BOD, unit owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to apply principles of logical thinking and problem solving to define problems, collect pertinent data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and initiate appropriate course of action, and monitor results.
- Solid understanding of managing discreet and confidential information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point). Experience with building management software systems/websites preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional customer service skills.
- Extremely resourceful, strong technical and analytical abilities, highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Applied knowledge of the D.C. Condominium Act. Ability to read, understand, operate the condominium association pursuant to its Declaration and Bylaws.
- Knowledge of risk management practices and an understanding of and experience with insurance claims handling.
- Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations, willingness to participate in training to comply with new or existing laws.
- Successfully pass a criminal and background check.
