Job Description – HVAC Estimator
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The HVAC Estimator prepares bid cost estimates by analyzing construction costs through the review and study of project requirements.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Identifies labor, material and time requirements by analyzing blueprints, drawings and other specifications
· Prior experience bidding Base Building and Tenant Improvement Projects
· Understands contractual terms and conditions
· Delivers intelligent and perceptive RFIs
· Provides clear detailed quantity take-offs
· Assembles accurate and well-organized estimates by deadlines
· Organizes sub-contractor and vendor quotations, and ensures quotes meet contract documents
· Maintains relationships with sub-contractors, vendors and clients
· Assembles material and labor costing information for the company historical databases
· Formulates cost break down from estimates for project managers pre-construction budgeting
· Attends periodic, pre-bid walk through
· Works with other company estimators assembling bid proposals
· Prepares for and coordinates a project turnover meeting for new projects. Meeting is shared between the assigned Project Manager and Foreman. Meeting should consist of an introduction to the project, budgets, cost-saving ideas, and/or areas of concern, and general requirements of a given project.
· Prepares estimate documents such as; proposals, blueprints, specifications, and other related documents
· Prioritizes and schedules bid workflow and deadlines
· Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; and negotiates pricing
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by utilizing technical support programs and continuing education
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
· 3+ years HVAC field experience
· Proficiency in Maxwell and Trimble Estimation Software preferred
· 3 years previous estimating experience
· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills including an ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, staff, and management
· Exceptional time management and organizational skills, professional, clean appearance
· Self-managed and goal-oriented
· Must have reliable transportation
· Proven ability to analyze, research, estimate, strategize and disseminate quality information
· Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a very fast paced environment
· Must be an independent self-starter, motivated, energetic, with excellent time-management skills that drive results
· General PC competency, including Microsoft Office, Excel power user preferred

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
