We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Construction Purchasing Manger to join our team. In this crucial role, the individual will be responsible for managing the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and services while ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of company facilities and vehicle fleet. This role requires a multi-disciplinary approach, combining purchasing expertise with facilities and fleet management skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies in alignment with project requirements and company goals.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible terms and pricing for materials and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials for ongoing projects.
- Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage purchase orders, contracts, and delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that material specifications meet project needs.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, supplier contracts, and cost analyses.
- Resolve any issues related to supplier performance or delivery delays.
- Stay informed about market trends, new materials, and potential suppliers to optimize purchasing processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements in all purchasing activities.
- Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, savings, and supplier performance to senior management.
- Oversee the maintenance, safety, and functionality of company facilities, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for building maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
- Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of company vehicles, ensuring a safe and efficient fleet.
- Monitor vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules to optimize fleet performance.
- Manage relationships with vehicle suppliers, leasing companies, and maintenance providers.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations related to vehicle operations, including licensing and inspections.
- Prepare and present regular reports on fleet utilization, costs, and performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, with a focus on construction materials and equipment, facilities management and fleet operations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and industry suppliers, as well as familiarity with relevant market trends and pricing dynamics.
- Proficiency in purchasing software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with a focus on achieving organizational goals and objectives.
- Commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism in all aspects of procurement management.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
- At least five (5) to ten (10) years of proven experience in a leadership role overseeing construction warehousing, facilities, and fleet management.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 35 lbs.
