What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $78,337 - $103,797 per year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
This position will report to 4495 Jason Street, Denver CO, 80211. This position will require availability to work after-hours, on weekends, holidays, or for weather response as needed and will work a 9/80 flex schedule, leading to having every other Friday off.
What You’ll Do
Denver Parks and Recreation is seeking a Parks Amenities Plumbing Supervisor to play a crucial role in the operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of parks plumbing infrastructure throughout the City and County of Denver. This is a great opportunity for a knowledgeable plumbing professional to lead and develop a strong and cohesive team.
This position will lead and manage the Parks Amenities Plumbing team. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and monitoring work programs in accordance with division maintenance standards. This position will also include developing and managing operating budgets, leading a work team of full-time and seasonal employees, and contractors, and providing customer response to citizens, City Council, and division partners.
Denver Parks and Recreation (DPR) boasts one of the most diverse, expansive, and historic park and recreation systems in the West with 22 mountain parks and 260 urban parks, including 24 lakes, 80,000 trees, more than 80 miles of trails, 34 designated parkways, 10 off-leash dog parks, 29 pools, 30 recreation centers, 150 playgrounds, 300 athletic fields, and 8 public golf courses. DPR staff provide high-quality, safe, and meaningful programs, activities, and places that promote active lifestyles and improve quality of life in Denver. Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Supervise staff members of the Plumbing Maintenance team performing technical maintenance and repair to city park amenities, support the department’s mission and goals, and recommend process improvements and changes in practices and procedures to increase operating efficiency and expedite workflow

Plan, schedule, assign, and evaluate the work of staff members, provide technical expertise to staff, and establish unit and staff work goals and objectives
-
Inspect the construction and installation progress to ensure compliance with established specifications, space allocation, layout, and timetables. Review work upon completion for adherence to guidelines and standards and provide necessary feedback

Implement safety standards and develop procedures to ensure compliance; ensure quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of unit activities and safety measures
-
Plan, budget and schedule repairs or maintenance including preparing cost estimate recommendations, requisitioning materials and equipment, and maintaining records on required and completed work repair. Evaluate the cost of repairs and prepare or modifies recommendations concerning contract repairs, service contracts and internal repair options. Evaluate and approve equipment for purchase, determine equipment specification and ensure parts, equipment and materials are available for use

Coordinate and serve as a subject matter expert in the plumbing on projects with other trades areas and engineers. Perform the same activities as the journey level staff

Develop a preventive maintenance program and develop recommendations for the establishment and implementation of a scheduled maintenance program for specialized equipment
-
Maintain records and prepare daily activity reports for all maintenance, repairs, and/or installation work completed
-
Monitor contracts to ensure compliance with contract requirements, verify that contractors have met contract goals and provided required reports and documentation, review and resolve differences in areas of noncompliance, and address other concerns as necessary
-
Review, develop, and modify work plans, methods, and procedures, determine work priorities, and develop work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage. Provide work instruction, assist employees with difficult and unusual assignments, and encourage innovation. Assign and distribute work, review work for accuracy and completeness, and return assignments with recommendations for proper completion

Conduct hiring interviews and select candidates for job openings

Resolve problems, mediate conflicts encountered during daily operations, determine appropriate solutions, and promote teamwork. Encourage regular communication and inform staff of relevant business issues and their impact on the organization

Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback and formally evaluate the work of employees; provide reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance. Assist staff to achieve performance standards and identify opportunities for continual improvement

Document causes for disciplinary action, initiate letters of reprimand, and make formal recommendations for disciplinary action. Respond to formal and informal employee grievances and prepare written responses

We are looking for an innovative and collaborative leader with strong decision-making and leadership skills. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have:

Experience leading or supervising plumbing staff

Experience utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

Understanding of International Plumbing Codes (IPC) and the ability to apply them to meet city, state, and federal regulations

Knowledge of repair and maintenance of water pump systems, irrigation systems, and historical/interactive fountains
-
Ability to manage and maintain a citywide backflow program which includes testing, repairing, and replacement
-
Backflow Tester certification (ASSE or ABPA) at the time of application or ability to obtain within six months of employment

Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in journeyman skilled trades or in facility maintenance operations

Licensures/Certification(s): This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Requires possession of a valid Journeyman Plumber's License issued by the State of Colorado at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
