Job Summary
TITLE: HVAC TECHNICIAN UN-LICENSED (1st SHIFT - 7:30AM to 4:00PM - Monday through Friday) DEPARTMENT: Engineering REPORTS TO: HVAC/PLUMBING SUPERVISOR HR ID#: 01-8061-222300 GENERAL SUMMARY: Primary role: Responds to routine service requests. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems supporting the hospital, medical buildings, and other campus buildings. Supporting role: Participates with shift rotation coverage for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Shift coverage training required. JOB SUMMARY: o INSPECTS, OPERATES, MAINTAINS AND REPAIRS ALL HVAC AND RELATED EQUIPMENT FOR THE FACILITY. o MUST HAVE WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS, PNEUMATIC CONTROLS, ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY AND MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT (CHILLERS, TOWERS, PUMPS, AIR HANDLING EQUIPMENT, AIR CONDITIONERS, REFRIGERATION, STEAM AND CONDENSATE SYSTEMS, HEATING WATER SYSTEMS), WATER TREATMENT, ENERGY CONSERVATION. o KNOWS, UNDERSTANDS AND COMPLIES WITH CODES AND REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE HVAC TRADE, THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, AND THE HOSPITAL AS THEY APPLY TO WORK BEING PERFORMED. o REQUIRED MAINTENANCE COVERAGE ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS. o RESPONDS TO EMERGENCY CONDITIONS RELATING TO HVAC EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS AND OTHERS AS REQUIRED. o PERFORMS SHIFT READINGS AS REQUIRED ON ALL DESIGNATED EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS ON THE CAMPUS AND PROVIDES FEEDBACK TO THE APPROPRIATE STAFF IF A QUESTION/PROBLEM IS FOUND. o PERFORMS SHIFT COVERAGE AS REQUIRED FOR HOLIDAYS, ILLNESSES, ETC. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: o INSPECTS AND PERFORMS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ON ALL HVAC EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS. o OPERATES ALL HVAC EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS AS NEEDED. o MAINTAINS AND REPAIRS ALL TYPES OF HVAC EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS AS REQUIRED. o PERFORMS SEASONAL START-UP AND SHUT DOWN OF HVAC EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS AS REQUIRED. o INSPECTS WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS FOR PROPER OPERATION, PERFORMS WATER TREATMENT AS REQUIRED WHERE SYSTEMS ARE MANUAL. o ADJUSTS/REPAIRS PNEUMATIC AND OTHER CONTROL SYSTEMS AS NEEDED TO PROVIDE PROPER LEVELS OF VENTILATION, HEAT, COOLING, ETC. IN ALL BUILDINGS, AS NEEDED. o OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED.
QUALIFICATIONS: o Must be able to read, write and perform simple arithmetic calculations at a level generally acquired through completion of high school. Additional training in technical or trade school required. o Knowledge of installation, repair, testing and calibration of HVAC equipment generally acquired through 1-2 years of refrigeration schooling required. o Universal EPA Certification Skills and Abilities Required o Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel o Ability to work with iPad and electronic work order system. o Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications. o Must be able to operate HVAC tools and equipment safely and efficiently. o Must be able to interact and cooperate with staff throughout the hospital. o Must be able to occasionally (less than 15% of the time) exert effort to lift over 30 lbs.
