The plumber is responsible for installation, alteration, and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems, fitting, and accessories in accordance with standard practices of the plumbing trade. Written or verbal assignments may be accompanied by sketches, penciled layouts or blueprints.
- Lays out, installs, maintains, and repairs standard plumbing equipment in water, gas oil, sewage, fire control, sprinkler, and steam systems.
- Installs, repairs, and replaces valves, faucets, traps, sinks, washbowls, sewer pipes, vents, and bathroom, kitchen or toilet fittings.
- Installs, repairs, and replaces plumbing systems including the cutting, bending, threading, reaming, assembling, caulking, yarning, wiping and soldering of various pipes, fittings, joints, and valves.
- Installs, repairs, and replaces kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Uses standard plumbing tools and power driven machines.
- Prepares estimates of material, time and labor, and may order supplies.
- May instruct, lead and direct work of apprentice-level tradesmen.
- Maintains sanitary and storm sewer lines with drain cleaning equipment.
- Tests and repairs backflow assemblies.
- Carries out oral and written directions. Accurately documents work performed on work orders defining problem and solution utilizing CMMS (Work Order Software).
- Communicates and coordinates problem resolution with schools, district staff and outside contractors.
- Conducts PM’s on facility and site, systems and equipment for maintenance and safety issues; makes repairs as required or provides recommendations to the District for correction.
- Respond as essential personnel in case of an emergency, weather or environmental event, and/or school/facility/district closure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of four years experience in the Plumbing trade
- State of Colorado Journeyman Plumber licensure
- Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., occasional dual-lifts of up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to pass physical examination upon recommendation for hire
- Ability to obtain Cross Connection Control Technician certification within 6 months of hire
Preferred:
- Ability to make cost estimates of time and materials
- State Of Colorado Master Plumber licensure
- Cross Connection Control Technician Certification
- Experience with plumbing service work, including drain cleaning
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks located at various sites
- Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools and materials of the plumbing trade.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Strong plumbing-related troubleshooting skills
- Ability to teach and develop skills of apprentice-level co-workers.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from rough sketches, drawings and blueprints.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Software skills
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
