JOB SUMMARY:
The Commercial Assistant Project Manager plays a vital role in supporting Project Managers by assisting with the preparation, organization, execution, and management of construction contracts. The goal is to ensure projects align with company standards for safety, cost efficiency, quality, and equipment management. Depending on the size and complexity of the projects, this role may involve supporting one or more Project Managers and stepping in to oversee a job for up to three weeks during the Project Manager's absence. Assistance and resources are provided as needed to fulfill these responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- With direct supervision and support from the project manager, manage the business side of a large-scale construction project.
- Establish with the Project Manager all necessary tracking charts and logs, as well as assist with maintaining said documents from project start through completion.
- Regularly visit assigned projects, interacting with customers and other trades while representing the organization in the field.
- Plan and organize projects using established procedures for submittal processing and subsequent material procurement and management.
- Assist with monitoring and documenting the progress of the project through updated construction schedules and scheduling software.
- Assist with manpower needs based on this schedule.
- Assist in the review of initial job estimates and aid in establishing construction estimates for budget projections.
- Assist the Project Manager in conducting all project meetings.
- Perform required take-off under the supervision of the Project Manager utilizing Accubid Estimating software.
- Assist with documenting, preparing, and reporting information for all job delays and accelerations for cost impacts, including reimbursements.
- Assist with accurate reporting of project costs through the use of quantitative reporting, project surveying, and job cost month-end processing.
- Assist in preparation and providing, per company policies and procedures, monthly project billings, manpower requirements, and job cost analysis.
- Maintain complete knowledge of project plans, specifications, job folder, and contract scope throughout the life of the project.
- Assist with electronic document control and record-keeping.
- Assist with project close-out/turnover with the general contractor and archiving all project documents per company policy and procedures. Assist with “in-house” project closeout.
- Ensure compliance with all job safety standards established by Tri-City and all regulatory agencies.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Keep abreast of current trends and developments in the field, read technical and trade journals, and participate in activities of professional associations.
- Assist in the development and execution of the change order process and the execution of change orders with the owners and subcontractors.
- Establish with the Project Manager all necessary tracking charts and logs, as well as assist with maintaining said documents from project start through completion.
- Provide a significant contribution to managing all material procurement for the project.
- Assist with the evaluation and interpretation of all contract documents.
- Assist with effectively managing the subcontractor/general contractor/owner billing process.
- Prepare correspondence and communication for the Project Manager for pending items, logs, and other management issues as necessary.
- Ensure project engineering activities align with company and contract requirements to stay on schedule while following safety and quality guidelines and TCE policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support for efforts including; participating in construction planning, design and interpretation of design of technical specifications, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, constructible reviews, etc.
- Coordinate schedules, inventory, material, and project correspondence.
- Be responsible for the development of coordination and electrical layout drawings and assist in the review of shop drawings to ensure their compliance with contract documents.
- Represent the company, project, and/or department during A/E, client, and project management meetings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of four (4) years of field experience in the electrical trade, has completed three (3) years of a four (4) year indentured electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
- Intermediate knowledge of electrical construction materials; including gear, fixtures, and commodity items
- Experience with contract documents (contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum, specifications, and change orders)
- Experience reading, and interpreting construction plans and specifications and applicable Local and National Electrical Code requirements
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language at a twelfth (12th) grade level
- High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bilingual
- Journeyman Electrician License

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- General Office Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
- Environmental Conditions: The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled setting with minimal exposure to loud noise, temperature variations, or other environmental factors.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting/Standing: Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, though there may be opportunities for standing and moving around the office as needed.
- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to operate computer keyboards, mouse, and other office tools, as well as to handle paperwork.
- Visual Requirements: The ability to read and interpret data on computer screens and printed documents is essential.
- Mobility: Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, such as files, documents, or office supplies, may be requested. Must be able to access all areas of the facility and projects to determine purchasing needs.
- Communication: Regular communication with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders requires the ability to exchange information effectively in both verbal and written form.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
- Travel is primarily local, although minimal out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
