Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for working with PBE products to troubleshoot product issues in the field to resolve product related issues for existing customers, or ongoing projects. While not conducting field service work, the technician will work in PBE’s Repair Department to resolve product issues that are received from our existing customers or distribution partners and returning them in a timely manner. As the face of PBE Axell, the Field Service Technician is not only technically astute, but they are also expected to represent PBE Axell with the highest degree of professionalism.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Troubleshoots customer installations in the field to determine cause and corrective action.
- Provides installation and commissioning assistance in support of the PBE product portfolio to include proximity alert systems, communications systems, and mine monitoring systems.
- Maintains all necessary certifications for surface and underground service and repair.
- Troubleshoots PBE products to determine cause of failures utilizing standard test equipment.
- Repairs and refurbishes PBE products to the latest configuration maintaining high quality.
- Assists engineering personnel in the field when needed.
- Assists Distributor Service Center personnel as needed in support of the PBE product portfolio.
- Help maintains all records necessary for the Service/ Repair Technicians.
- Works closely with the Sales group in promoting PBE products when on service calls or training seminars.
- Maintains a relationship with distributors as it relates to service and training.
- Aids in product demonstrations as requested by sales.
Education/Work Experience
- Associate degree in electronics, electrical and electronics equipment repair, electronic technology or other engineering specialty; or equivalent trade school or military training.
Capabilities/Skills:
- Must be able to concentrate and have excellent problem solving skills.
- Must be able to use tools to repair and service products.
- Must have abstract reasoning skills and creative thinking skills.

- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Physical Demands:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight 50 lbs; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
