Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy equipment operation and a strong understanding of construction site operations. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of various types of machinery to support construction projects, including but not limited to backhoes, bulldozers, graders, loaders, dump trucks, and tankers. The Equipment Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring that tasks are completed on time and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing pre-shift/pre-trip inspections and filling out respective reports
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently on construction sites.
- Perform backhoe operations for digging and trenching tasks.
- Maintain and operate various grading equipment, such as, excavator, skid steer, front end loader, and bulldozer
- Create level surfaces, grade slopes to specifications, remove material and thoroughly fill voids using plans and/or a surveyor as guidance
- Conduct fine grader operations to prepare surfaces for paving
- Operate dump trucks for transporting materials to and from job sites
- Handle tanker operations as required for specific project needs
- Performs all work in a safe, efficient manner, following routine and all standards of performance. Work is repetitive and continuous
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate activities and ensure project timelines are met
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while operating machinery
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation within a construction site environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with various types of heavy machinery, including backhoes, bulldozers, graders, loaders, dump trucks, and tankers.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand project specifications is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license is required; additional certifications related to heavy equipment operation are advantageous.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred, but not required
- Five (5) years of prior grading experience required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
