Job Summary: The Solar Installer will assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This position requires travel.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs and other structures.
- Configures PV systems based on site conditions, customers’ needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid.
- Follows building standards and codes when installing panels and support structures.
- Inspects electrical installation and wiring.
- Tests operating voltages; calibrates to ensure systems are within acceptable power limits.
- Assembles solar array racking, mounting hardware, properly seal all roof penetrations, and installs all related equipment
- Performs routine maintenance on PV systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of PV equipment and installation, preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment, preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read building plans, preferred.
- Ability to read equipment manuals.
- Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational or technical school training preferred.
- One to Three years solar experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work at great heights.
- Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, etc)
