General Requirements:
- May perform any of the duties of Shop Technician I, Shop Technician II, and Shop Technician III.
- Recommend to fleet supervisor appropriate resources to accomplish work.
- Collaborate with support staff on shop administration.
- Assist supervisors and shop employees in solving task-related problems.
- Assign and explain tasks to shop staff based on instructions received from the fleet supervisor.
- Train employees to meet quality and quantity standards.
- Advise supervisor of work progress.
- Review FMIS work orders and work order notes to ensure staff are correctly charging out work and documenting the Concern, Cause, and Correction in a Report to and assist the immediate supervisor.
- Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
- Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
- Must work well as part of a team.
Functional Requirements:
- Must possess the ability to utilize various electronic diagnostic equipment and make minor and major repairs to electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, gasoline, and diesel systems.
- Work will primarily be performed in shop conditions, although mobile work may be required from time to time. In this case, this position may involve some overnight travel as well as travel out of state and the employee will be expected to travel as needs and job requirements dictate.
- Employee will be expected to work overtime as the company determines based on job requirements.
- Individual selected must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Candidate must be highly motivated and customer service driven.
- Demands of this position will change often and work assignments will be dynamic.
Qualification Standards:
- High school diploma or GED.
- A two-year technical, vocational, or trade school diploma or degree in auto, truck, and/or heavy equipment is desired.
- Skilled in tasks they direct and be able to solve task-related problems.
- Demonstrated ability to effect good working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to coordinate multiple resources to accomplish work.
- Proficient in creating, closing, and completing work orders in the FMIS.
- Valid Texas Class "A" or "B" NonCommercial Driver's License.
- Some positions in this classification may be required to obtain additional licenses and certificates such as: Forklift Operators License, Department of Transportation Inspectors License, Air Conditioning Repair License, and Freon Recovery Certificate.
- Must possess Master ASE Certification / Medium Heavy Truck (T Series), and Master ASE Certification / Truck Equipment (ESeries).
Compensation: Union Pay: $41.52 with Union Benefits Package
