Summary of Position
The laundry supervisor takes responsibility for all laundry operations on the pm shift and in the absence of the laundry manager. The supervisor sets production schedules, directs employees, coordinates with the operating departments to insure the necessary inventory levels. The supervisor is responsible for reporting any equipment failures or other issues during his/her shift. The supervisor trains new staff members on his/her shift and assists in production if necessary.

Knowledge and Skills
The supervisor must understand and communicate fluently in English. The supervisor must be familiar with the operation of all laundry equipment and chemicals. The supervisor must maintain communication with operating departments throughout the shift to ensure appropriate inventory levels. The supervisor must be able to interact effectively with both laundry staff and managers and supervisors in other operating departments.
Education and Work Experience
High School Education. Previous commercial laundry and supervisor experience preferred.
Tasks / Responsibilities
Supervisor ensures flow of linens through production. Supervisor assists employees on finishing equipment, and inspects product to make sure folding and pressing is done according to standard. Supervisor is highly organized and knowledgeable about the laundry processes and chemicals. Supervisor takes special care of locker bags to ensure they are properly pinned before washing and folded one at a time when dried. Supervisor assists other departments both in person and over the phone and is highly responsive to the needs of all the operating departments. Supervisor is responsible for closing up the laundry for the night at the end of the shift, making sure that the floors are clean, dryers lint filters are cleaned, the linen is properly stored, the machines are properly halted and the facility is locked at the end of the shift.

Employees in this position will be required to work in a fast-paced laundry plant environment, where there is typically a high noise level, work is performed in extreme temperatures, and floors surfaces may be slick.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk, stand and bend for long periods of time. The hours of work varies upon business levels. Must be able to push, pull and lift 50 lbs. and on occasionally manipulate wheeled carts that weigh up to 350 lbs. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to perform all activities in a professional manner. Must be able to see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids. Must be able to communicate in person and over the telephone.
