Job brief:
- A Journeyman Electrician is a high integrity individual that installs, maintains and repairs electrical equipment. Common duties listed include blueprint reading and assisting in working with electrical systems, making repairs and troubleshooting issues; testing electric systems using variety of tools; documenting actions and testing results; repairing electrical issues by installing and replacing wiring, devices, and components; maintaining electrical equipment in good working conditions; leading teams of electricians; and using ladders and scaffoldings to work on electrical systems, commercial properties and industrial facilities.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship and valid Journeyman Electrician’s license required
- 8,000 hrs.+ of electrical field/work experience
- Journeyman’s Certificate
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience as Journeyman Electrician or job Foreman
- General Knowledge of the NEC
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability and experience to lead teams
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Math and IT ability with an analytical mindset
- Proficient in relevant company software
- Strong communication skills

Responsibilities:
- Work with tools and perform installs
- Assist with design and layout of projects
- Train Apprentices on efficiencies and proper installs
- Understand the project and its requirements
- Determine key variables for cost and pricing for project changes
- Use software for recording project information, data analysis, scheduling and forecasting
- Build relationships with customer, management & field employees
- Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them
- Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building
- Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation
- Inspect & trouble shoot electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed
- Install and repair electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings
- Install boxes and enclosures, raceways and conductors
- Confirm all wiring and installs comply with the NEC
