Job Summary:
A Licensed Journeyman Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems on commercial projects, with a focus on hydronic heating systems, mechanical rooms, and various other commercial applications. The ideal candidate will be an expert in technical excellence and communication, ensuring that each service is explained, and maintenance procedures are clear to clients upon completion. They should have experience working with a variety of plumbing materials and tools to deliver high-quality workmanship. Advanced training is available for eligible employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including water, gas, and drainage pipes, fixtures, and appliances in commercial buildings.
- Specialize in hydronics, including the installation and maintenance of hydronic heating systems and components (boilers, radiators, piping).
- Install and service plumbing systems in mechanical rooms, including pumps, water heaters, and pressure regulators.
- Work with a variety of materials including but not limited to PVC, copper, PEX, black iron, and galvanized steel pipes.
- Collaborate with other trades such as HVAC and electrical teams to ensure successful integration of plumbing systems on large-scale commercial projects.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, specifications, and project plans to ensure compliance with local and state building codes.
- Use a variety of tools including pipe cutters, threading machines, soldering torches, pressure gauges, and inspection cameras to complete installations and repairs.
- Perform backflow prevention testing and other code-required inspections.
- Troubleshoot plumbing issues, diagnose system malfunctions, and repair or replace faulty components as needed.
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company safety standards.
- Provide guidance and oversight to apprentice plumbers to ensure quality and adherence to industry standards.
- Communicate service and maintenance procedures clearly to clients upon completion of tasks.
Essential Job Functions:
- Start work on time with the required hand tools and PPE to perform the job safely and productively.
- Conduct yourself in a manner that best represents the company to others.
- Assume responsibility in designated areas of the project.
- Establish goals and meet schedules through planning and helping to motivate the crew.
- Responsible for physical jobsite organization and housekeeping to ensure a safe and professional work area.
- Maintain knowledge of local and national codes, as well as industry standards (training available).
- Identify and respond to the needs of internal and external clients 100% of the time.
- Work within the company’s safety guidelines and employee policy.
- Utilize company process systems (MSI, Keystyle, etc.) to properly track work performed and hours spent in the field.
- Availability to work on an on-call basis, including after-hours shifts (Friday-Thursday, rotating schedule).
- Participate in meetings and training as necessary.
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected to meet the requirements of this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current Journeyman Plumbing License in the state of Colorado.
- Proven experience in commercial plumbing, including work on mechanical rooms and hydronic systems.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing materials, tools, and installation techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of local plumbing codes and regulations.
- Proficient in the use of plumbing tools and equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in coordination with other trades.
