The HVAC Mechanic with IFAS Facilities Planning and Operations provides preventive maintenance and general maintenance for all UF/IFAS-owned buildings at Balm, Lake Alfred, Apopka, and Wimauma, Florida. Primary work location will be in Balm. Driving a state vehicle to work sites is required.
Performs preventative and scheduled maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment, including but not limited to air conditioners, air handlers, air compressors, condensing units, refrigeration units, ice machines, natural gas unit heaters, chillers, and circulating water pumps.

Performs preventive and scheduled maintenance in a variety of other building maintenance areas, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry. Employee is responsible for managing a set of diverse computer-generated work orders, prioritizing safety and critical repairs first as well as initiating material requests and responding to emergencies as needed. Manages the operation of and performs maintenance on outdoor air conditioning units on Lake Alfred, Apopka, and Wimauma sites; monitors equipment activity via automated controls. Works with the building automation systems and engineering team to resolve problems. Oversees HVAC portions of renovation/new construction projects.
- Completes records and reports in support of the preventative and scheduled maintenance of all building systems, including daily chiller readings, materials used, labor required for tasks, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
