New Orleans Country Club is looking for a full-time Chief Engineer to join the team.
Established in 1914, New Orleans Country Club is a full-service, private country club offering golf, tennis, fitness, food and beverage (a la carte dining and banquets) and swimming to our members and their guests.
Job Summary
The Chief Engineer oversees all maintenance and repair operations across the club’s facilities, including the management of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role involves both analytical and hands-on responsibilities, ensuring all environmental, water, sewer, and other club projects meet technical standards and regulatory compliance. The Chief Engineer manages budgets, staff, and contractors, guaranteeing timely, efficient, and cost-effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Workflow Management
- Establish work procedures, develop schedules, and optimize workflows for maximum team efficiency.
- Communicate clear instructions, assigning tasks to ensure compliance with policies and standards.
- Maintain a harmonious work environment, addressing grievances and supporting team development.
Budget & Financial Management
- Develop, submit, and administer department budgets, ensuring all spending aligns with approved limits.
- Prepare financial reports and make necessary adjustments to meet operational goals.
Project Management & Compliance
- Oversee club construction projects, ensuring contractor compliance with time and budget parameters.
- Review project and development plans for regulatory compliance and alignment with club standards.
- Document and monitor progress, maintaining records for operational and maintenance purposes.
Regulatory & Standards Compliance
- Maintain engineering and infrastructure records, ensuring compliance with city standards and public works regulations.
- Evaluate utility permits and development plans for regulatory adherence.
- Update as-built records as necessary for maintenance programs.
Member & Club Engagement
- Collaborate with club departments to support operations and provide high-quality member service.
Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience
- Licensure: First Class AC License
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in maintenance work
Preferred Education & Experience
- Licensure: Second Class Boilers License
- Management Experience: 2+ years of supervisory experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Chief Engineer supervises the Maintenance Engineers, providing guidance and support to maintain operational excellence.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Environment: Primarily within the clubhouse and property grounds, requiring regular interaction with staff and club members.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, handle equipment, and perform duties requiring close and distance vision, color distinction, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend flexibility as required.
