A Hotel Engineer's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- General maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas
- Responding to any HVAC, TV and maintenance calls or room calls as a priority, providing exceptional guest service
- Guest room and public area entry-level preventative maintenance
- Repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment
- Efficiently and safely operating machinery and small hand tools such as drills, grinders, saws, etc.
- Efficiently operating all building systems
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work space and public areas
- Producing accurate logs, charts and PM forms and keeping them updated
- Safely operating central HVAC equipment and mechanical equipment using sound engineering practices and specified corporate operating procedures
- Trouble-shooting electrical and pneumatic problems and repairing them as quickly, efficiently and economically as possible
- Maintaining all fire safety equipment operations and implement emergency procedures when required
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment and all work performed
- Maintaining a high standard of safety and cleanliness in the department and work areas; adhere to the clean-as-you-go policy
- Accurately and efficiently repairing and maintaining:All boilers and plumbing systems
- All air conditioning/heating equipment and systemsAll electrical and natural gas distribution systemsAll laundry equipmentAll ice machines and refrigeration systemsAll food production and related kitchen equipment
- Performing preventive and predictive maintenance on an on-going basis
- Accurately and efficiently testing, operating and maintaining building emergency systems on a monthly or quarterly basis as outlined in company’s Fire Life Checklist
- Maintaining the preventive maintenance schedule on a monthly or quarterly basis as outlined in company’s Fire Life Safety Checklist.
- Specifying and ordering tools, parts, materials and supplies, following the hotel purchase order or requisition system
- Assisting other members of the Engineering Department as needed
- Working with outside contractors
- Repairing interior and exterior finishes
- Communicating accurately and effectively in verbal and written form with guests and associates so as to respond accurately and completely to people to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as appropriate
- Safely climb ladders and stairs
- Understanding and operating electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Lifting and carrying heavy objects such as boxes, televisions, ladders, etc.
- Reading and understanding test equipment, measuring devices, blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown
- Producing accurate written technical reports
- Efficiently maintaining and repairing equipment
- Working in a hot or cold environment
- Lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, walking, standing, reaching, handling and stooping in order to maintain and repair equipment
- Appropriately addressing guest concerns in a quick and efficient manner
- Ability to assist with Houseperson or Lobby Attendant duties as needed
- Removing linens, terry and trash from departed guest rooms
- Assisting with meeting room setup and tear down
- May be required to assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Building maintenance experience with hotel experience strongly preferred
- Must have schedule flexibility for mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift, pull and push moderate weight
