Job Summary
Set up and maintain the production line for safe manufacturing of home and garden products. Assure continued running of the line by performing machine adjustments and repairs to equipment as well as preventative maintenance. Responsible for all new equipment relocations and installations. Assist with changeovers and setups on production equipment. Perform major maintenance activities such as machine rebuilds. Train technical specialists on new and existing equipment and guide them through troubleshooting activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence in following the operating master and specifications for each product
- Make appropriate machine adjustments to ensure specification compliance
- Sets up, takes down and relocates all packaging equipment using Set-Up sheets ensuring the lines are operating efficiently to meet the packaging schedule
- Work with engineers to create or modify Set-Up sheets to insure accuracy
- Monitor packaging line performance and make required adjustments or repairs to maintain effective and efficient operation, minimizing downtime.
- Responsible for repairs, running adjustments, preventative and breakdown maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Perform machine rebuilds and modifications on packaging equipment
- Implement improvements to improve repeatability and timing of format changeovers. Performs changeovers on packaging lines and prepare them for different product formats.
- Will meet with a variety of people from outside the company to work on projects for new equipment and/or replacing old equipment.
- Focused on continuous improvement efforts and LEAN Initiatives to improve production performance and equipment reliability.
- Demonstrate high levels of good housekeeping practices to promote a safe work environment. Focus on opportunities to make equipment safer and more reliable on packaging lines
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures including values, safety, attendance, and standard operating procedures
- Deliver on the job training to new coworkers
- Develop, implement, and comply will all continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required
- Rebuild pumps and gearboxes including seals and shaft/motor realignment
Education and Experience Profile
College Diploma in Mechanical or Electromechanical Disciplines or 6-8 years of packaging education and experience.
Millwright, Machinist, or Industrial Electrician Certification is an asset

- Must develop an expert knowledge and understanding of mechanical functions related to aerosol and liquid production
- Correctly diagnose a mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problem and expedite its repair
- Perform machining requirements, which include the proper use of lathes, mills, surface grinders, drill presses, welding and brazing equipment and other machine shop related practices
- Knowledge of hi-speed packaging equipment operations and continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively within a team environment
- Effective problem-solving (root-cause analysis and countermeasure development) and sound decision making abilities
- Conform to Good Manufacturing Processes and established regulatory bodies
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and bias for action and results
- Ability to create or modify set-up documentation and preventative maintenance documentation
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to follow company values (such as integrity and respect for others)
- Ability to layout, thread and assemble pipe
- Knowledge of steam piping and traps
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
70% on the production floor troubleshooting, corrective actions, and training; 30% office work creating or modifying documentation.

Pay: $31.43 - $33.93 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 48 per week
