Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Substation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment in substations. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and safety protocols, as well as the ability to work effectively in various field conditions.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of substation equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, and relays.
Utilize voltmeters and other diagnostic tools to assess electrical systems and identify issues.

Ensure compliance with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards during all work activities.
Conduct utility locating to prevent damage to underground infrastructure during construction or maintenance activities.
Climb structures and perform tree trimming as necessary to maintain clearances around electrical lines.
Collaborate with team members on construction sites to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used during projects.

Requirements

Proven experience as an industrial electrician or in a similar role within the utility sector.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety protocols, and field service operations.
Ability to climb heights and work in various weather conditions as required by job duties.
Familiarity with utility locating techniques is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience with tree trimming practices is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
