About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Director of Custodial Services to join our team. This role involves assisting with the operational, personnel, and financial activities of the custodial department while ensuring compliance with all district, state, and federal policies. The position requires leadership in managing staff, overseeing budgets, and enhancing organizational efficiency to uphold our commitment to cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative and Fiscal Oversight:
- Assist with managing custodial department operations, including payroll, timesheets, reports, supply orders, inventory, and labor allocations.
- Develop, monitor, and implement annual operating budgets and departmental policies.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines.
Leadership and Special Projects:
- Supervise and support the completion of specialized custodial projects (e.g., vinyl and wood floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, high window/light work).
- Represent the custodial department in district, community, or state-level meetings and provide assistance to campuses as needed.
Staff Management and Development:
- Recommend hiring, training, and evaluating staff; provide guidance to enhance team performance.
- Recognize exemplary performance and foster a positive team environment through collaboration and morale-building activities.
- Determine technical training needs and support staff certification or re-licensing.
Community and Interdepartmental Relations:
- Interface with governmental agencies, businesses, and civic organizations to promote district initiatives.
- Collaborate with campus and departmental staff to improve service delivery and program outcomes.
Emergency Preparedness and Compliance:
- Monitor and recommend actions for emergency notification systems.
- Ensure compliance with district policies and safety standards in all custodial operations.
Other Duties:
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned to support district goals.
Entry Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five years of relevant experience, including at least three years in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, with the ability to meet district vehicle liability policy requirements.
