The Plumbing Sewer Sales Manager is responsible for all Plumbing Sales in our Sewer Department including the management of our drain technicians. Utilizes salespeople and drain staff effectively to manage workload and job costs, achieve margin objectives and provide plumbing services to customers.
Job Description and Responsibilities

- Manages and develops the drain and sewer sales staff, which includes hiring, terminating, and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, counseling employees, evaluating performance, and directing work assignments to ensure effective production.
- Establishes and maintains departmental operating policies and procedures and budgets.
- Interfaces with homeowners, building inspectors and project managers to identify service needs and maintain good customer relations.
- Evaluates workload and schedules
- Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Communicates regularly with sales/PRS staff to assist in providing estimates, resolving problems, and closing sales.
- Sets up pricing structures. Reviews bid proposals and discusses bids with salespeople on all quoted jobs.
- Drives to job sites to monitor production and efficiency of drain techs and monitor quality control.
- Generates reports and measures of departmental operations as well as records on all inventory, tools, and vehicles. Review reports with management.
- Stays in touch with service technicians and installation crews to assist with unexpected needs.
- Reviews payroll records to ensure that salespeople and technicians are paid properly.
- Assists the dispatching operation to ensure appropriate salesperson and technician selection for type of service.
- May conduct job site surveys. Checks to ensure that each job is complete, and that documentation is completed.
- May set up plumbing inspections, oversee the permitting process and arrange for bonds.
- May assist in collecting past due accounts receivable.
- May complete employee accident forms and property damage forms and investigate claims.
- Ensures that employees have proper tools for the job and that they are properly maintained.
- Evaluates fleet and equipment for proper functioning and availability. Monitors preventive maintenance of vehicles to ensure proper operation.
- Evaluates staff to determine training requirements. Provides on-the-job training and support to employees.
- Oversees facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring that assets are protected and controlled.
- Manage drain service operations.
- Manage Sewer Sales/ Camera Inspection operations.
- Coordinates work with subcontractors, as needed.
- Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area.
- Ensures that all personnel observe safety and Company rules and regulations in the performance of duties and wear issued safety equipment.
- Observes all safety and Company rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
- Follows the guidelines for the Senior Cares, Ethics, and Quality Assurance Process.
- Follows all guidelines prescribed in the Plumbing and Sewer Sales Policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School diploma is required with 3-5 years of sewer experience in a management role
- Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- A solid understanding of the permitting process in the Kansas City Metro area.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Must possess a working knowledge of general industry standards
- Strong supervisory, computer, spreadsheet, Microsoft Office and mathematical skillsm required.
- Strong communications/human relations skills are also required.
