Senior HVAC (DDC) Controls Technician

Job Description:You will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and managing daily enterprise level BMS systems. The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in mechanical or electrical and/or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering. We are looking for previous experience in HVAC DDC controls industry and experience working as an electrician, HVAC or refrigeration Technician in commercial or industrial applications rather than domestic/residential markets.
Your Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Supervision of, and preparation of fundamental specification, programming, commissioning, final tuning of HVAC controls
- Advanced understanding and proficiency with BMS systems. Tridium based BMS systems including AX and N4.
- Providing engineering, commissioning, and IT assistance on projects as required
- Normal working hours of 8am to 5pm (1hour lunch break)
- Attendance at the FSS Office for meetings, instruction, testing, commissioning, maintenance activities as required.
- Perform factory, site, and customer acceptance tests, identifying actual and potential nonconformances.
- Assist with project management, planning and review of technical decisions and challenges.
- Develop and maintain documentation, drawings, technical and activity reports in a timely manner, also assist with proposals, quotations and estimates.
- Strive to develop and maintain technical best practice.
- Provide mentoring and development of less experienced technical staff as well as job project/contract training for customers.
- Additional activities to meet contracted requirements and/or to provide customer service and support.
- Systematic diagnosis and troubleshooting of maintained systems.
- Identification of new opportunities while attending customer sites to promote services growth.
- Undertaking of Small works projects including cost effective and efficient design of BMS HVAC controls systems.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings. Ability to redline changes as needed.
- Be available to join an out-of-hours on-call rotation.
- Ensure issued instruments and tools are in working condition.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- An understanding of HVAC and Building Services Applications
- The ability to own and follow through on commitments to completion.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Solid working knowledge of computers, operating systems and associated peripherals
- Sound working knowledge of HVAC systems and associated plant / control systems and philosophies and an understanding of power and control systems.
- Demonstrable success with best practice commissioning of HVAC systems
- Experience in cost monitoring & control, quality control, subcontractor management and designer management.
- Proficient with Niagara 4.9, Microsoft applications-Outlook, Excel, Word, & SharePoint.
- Must hold a valid driving license.
- Must be able to pass required background check.
