Job Summary:
The HVAC Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This role requires a technical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Essential Functions: include, but are not limited to:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, including inspections,
cleaning, adjustments, and repairs. This includes residential and light commercial
- Identify and troubleshoot potential issues, providing timely solutions to prevent system
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including service reports and
inventory of parts used.
- Assist with emergency repairs and service calls as needed.
- Stay current with HVAC technologies and industry best practices through ongoing
training and development.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing recommendations for system
improvements and energy efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and industry regulations while performing all tasks, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Supervisory Responsibilities:No direct supervisory responsibilities
Essential Qualification:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in HVAC or related field
- Proven experience as an HVAC technician, with a focus on preventative maintenance.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and tools.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and working in confined spaces.

- Must work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, blood exposure, and moving machinery.
- Can work both inside and outside. Subject to weather.
- Ability to operate in an open work area with moderate everyday noise.
- Ability to remain in work area beyond normal working hours.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Mathematics Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume.
Language Ability Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
