Position Summary
The HVAC/Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections and preventative measures.
- Replace or repair detective components as necessary.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in HVAC and refrigeration systems, including not limited to, compressors, motors, fans thermostats and control units.
- Properly handle, recover and dispose of refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations. Perform leak detection and repair as required.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used and other relevant information. Complete work orders and provide recommendations for system upgrades or replacements.
- Interact with customers professionally and provide clear explanations of work performed, potential issues and maintenance recommendations.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, when working with HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new regulations related to HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to operate a forklift, use hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, components, and electrical circuits.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to utilize smart phone and computer with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (HVAC certification preferred).
- Proven experience as an HVAC/Refrigeration Technician.
- Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, components, and electrical circuits.
- EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants.
- Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements
- The job may involve working in confined spaces, on roofs and in extreme temperatures.
- Occasional periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, climbing, pushing or pulling, and exposure to loud noises.
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Exposure to biohazardous material and chemicals commonly used in the janitorial industry.
- May use janitorial equipment such as vacuums, foggers, and floor scrubbers.
- Use of PPE such as latex gloves, protective clothing, safety glasses, and masks as needed.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
