WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham brings an innovative approach to the extended stay hotel segment, offering both traditional extended stay suites as well as unfurnished suite options for longer stay lengths. We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This key role is responsible for ensuring the daily upkeep of the hotel, maintaining a preventative maintenance program, and overseeing life safety measures. The Maintenance Engineer will also coordinate and oversee the work of outside vendors and may oversee the daily maintenance of the swimming pool, if present.
Job Summary: The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the efficient and effective maintenance of the hotel’s infrastructure, including guest rooms, common areas, major mechanical systems, and life safety systems. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capability to manage both in-house maintenance staff and external vendors. The Maintenance Engineer will ensure that all facilities are in optimal condition, providing a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Upkeep:
- Conduct daily maintenance activities to ensure the hotel is well-maintained and operating smoothly.
- Perform regular inspections of guest rooms, common areas, and mechanical systems to identify and address maintenance needs promptly..
- Preventative Maintenance Program:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all guest rooms, common areas, and major mechanical systems.
- Schedule and conduct regular maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance of equipment
- Conduct regular client visits and presentations to showcase the benefits of our extended stay
Life Safety:
- Ensure all life safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and evacuation plans, are functioning correctly and meet regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and drills to ensure compliance with safety regulations and readiness for emergencies.
Vendor Coordination:
- Coordinate and oversee the work of outside vendors for landscaping, elevators, and other contracted services.
- Obtain quotes, negotiate contracts, and ensure vendors complete work to the required standards and within budget.
- Review and approve of outside vendors along with incoming invoices.
- Swimming Pool Maintenance:
- Perform daily maintenance of the swimming pool, including water quality testing, cleaning, and equipment maintenance, if applicable.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to pool operations.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Prepare regular reports on maintenance performance, expenses, and any significant issues for management review.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
- Provide recommendations on short-term and intermediate Capital Items.
- Monitor utility and trash service usage and expenses to identify cost savings opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Proven experience in hotel maintenance, multifamily maintenance or a similar role, with strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with a diverse team.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Pool operator certification (CPO) is a plus.
