Position Summary
The General Manager, Line Maintenance reports to the Director of Line Maintenance and has overall authority to direct all maintenance activities on JetBlue Airways aircraft. The General Manager, Line Maintenance is the focal point for Technical Operations among the local operational groups which includes Operations, Flight, Inflight, and Airports.
Essential Responsibilities
- Directs maintenance and servicing of JetBlue Airways Aircraft
- Regional oversight authority for line maintenance activities at neighboring maintenance stations
- Provides oversight to ensure implementation of the maintenance program with minimal disruption to flight schedules
- Develops and continually improves process and procedures for the business units, while partnering cross-departmentally (internal and external) to ensure alignment and sharing of best practices
- Inform the negotiations for contract terms and conditions
- Responsible for industry leading inventory to fleet size ratios
- Review and analyze asset control measures and usages to identify areas of revenue control for the department
- Responsible for scheduling, staffing, and building manpower requirements
- Takes a significant role in the development and training of crewmembers to support engagement, growth, and achievement of goals
- Builds and maintains capital/operating budget for the business units
- Ensures performance is compliant with internal and regulatory standards
- Manages safety risks in the operation
- Ensure the management of safety risks and security threats to aircraft operations
- Ensure Operations are conducted in accordance with conditions and restrictions of the Air Operator Certificate (AOC), and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards of the Operator
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
- Six (6) years of airline maintenance experience
- Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- Able to travel and/or work variable hours, flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends
- Four (4) years of aviation leadership experience
- Working knowledge of Part 121 Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s)
- Experience building and managing a budget
- Track record of capturing value and savings within a Technical Operations function
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal, written, as well as strong analytical and time management skills
- Available for occasional overnight travel (30%)
- Currently in possession of a valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
- Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
- Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation related field
- Experience leading a large and multi department TechOps work group
- Ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, in a demanding, and fast-paced operation
- Accountable and results driven

- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
