Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Technician / Controls / Fire Alarm Installer to join our team in Arizona. The ideal candidate will have experience in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining low-voltage systems including fire alarms, security systems, access controls, and building automation controls in commercial settings. This position requires knowledge of electrical systems, attention to detail, and adherence to industry codes and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain low-voltage systems such as fire alarms, security cameras, access control systems, and building automation controls.
- System Testing: Perform testing, troubleshooting, and adjustments to ensure the proper operation of installed systems.
- Wiring & Cabling: Run cables, install wiring, and set up network infrastructure for all systems according to blueprints and technical specifications.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all relevant building codes, NFPA standards, and local safety regulations for fire alarm and low-voltage installations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, service requests, and inspections. Prepare daily reports on work performed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, electricians, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of low-voltage systems into larger construction projects.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients, providing operational instructions and addressing any service-related inquiries.
- Upgrades & Repairs: Conduct system upgrades, repairs, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in low-voltage installation, controls, or fire alarm systems in a commercial environment.
- Licensing/Certification: NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certification is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical codes, fire codes, and low-voltage system standards (NFPA, NEC, etc.).
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics. Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated heights.
- Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Driver’s License: Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with building automation systems and controls
- Knowledge of security systems, access controls, and audio-visual systems
- Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) and energy management systems
