Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC / Refrigeration Technician to join our team. You will bring a minimum of five years of experience in commercial refrigeration repair, heating and cooling systems, and related mechanical and electrical tasks.
What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on self-contained and remote refrigeration units.
- Diagnose and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Conduct mechanical and electrical tasks related to HVAC systems.
- Work collaboratively with the Elia Group maintenance team to ensure efficient and effective repairs.
- Report to the Director of Design and Construction, providing regular updates on project status and maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Your success with us requires these qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience in commercial refrigeration repair and HVAC maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems related to HVAC.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with self-contained and remote refrigeration units.
- Proficiency in performing preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid HVAC technician certification and relevant licenses.
- Must be reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.

Physical Requirements

Strength and Endurance
o Lifting and carrying heavy equipment: HVAC technicians often lift and move heavy parts, tools, and machinery, including air conditioning units, compressors, and furnaces. This may require lifting 50-100 lbs or more.
o Standing for long periods: Technicians may be required to stand or walk for much of the workday while working on various systems.
o Bending, crouching, and kneeling: Working in tight spaces like attics, basements, and crawl spaces may require frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling.
· Flexibility and Mobility
o Climbing ladders and scaffolding: HVAC systems are often located on rooftops, in high places, or inside hard-to-reach areas, requiring climbing and balancing.
o Working in confined spaces: Technicians often have to work in small, enclosed areas like duct systems or crawlspaces, which can be physically restrictive.
o Crawling or lying down: Repairing or installing equipment might require crawling or lying in awkward positions for extended periods.
· Manual Dexterity and Coordination
o Hand-eye coordination: Working with small parts, tools, and electrical systems requires precision and steady hands.
o Use of tools: HVAC technicians must have the dexterity to handle and manipulate tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and gauges.
· Stamina
o Work in extreme temperatures: Since HVAC systems often fail during extreme weather, technicians frequently work in hot attics or cold environments, which requires stamina.
o Repetitive motions: Many tasks involve repetitive hand motions, such as tightening
· Vision and Hearing
o Good vision: Accurate visual assessments are needed for reading gauges, wiring diagrams, and manuals. Color vision may be required to distinguish between wires of different colors.
o Good hearing: Listening for unusual noises in equipment can help detect problems.
· Health and Safety Awareness
o Physical health: General good health is important due to the physically demanding nature of the work.
o Working with hazardous materials: HVAC technicians often work with refrigerants and electrical systems, so physical agility and a strong awareness of safety protocols are necessary.
