Plumbing Apprentice Job Description (Levels 1-4):
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Plumber. As an Apprentice Plumber, you will work under the supervision of experienced professionals in the field to learn and develop essential skills in industrial and commercial plumbing systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and fittings.
- Learn how to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand the design and layout of various plumbing systems.
- Learn and comply with the different building codes to ensure proper installation and adherence to plumbing standards.
- Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools.
- Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and perform necessary repairs.
- Work collaboratively with other construction professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Attend training sessions and complete coursework to advance plumbing skills and knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Leadman, Foreman, or Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing concepts, terminology, tools, materials, and techniques is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting in physically demanding environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
Levels:
Level 1 – Entry (0-1 years of experience):
- Assist with basic plumbing tasks under close supervision.
- Learn to identify and use various plumbing tools and materials.
- Understand and follow safety protocols and guidelines.
Level 2 – Intermediate (1-2 years of experience):
- Perform more complex plumbing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Read and interpret blueprints and building codes.
- Begin to troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing issues independently.
Level 3 – Advanced (2-3 years of experience):
- Take on more responsibility in planning and executing plumbing projects.
- Supervise and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 apprentices.
- Demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of plumbing techniques and systems.
Level 4 – Experienced (3-4 years of experience):
- Lead plumbing projects from start to finish, ensuring quality and compliance under the supervision of a Journeyman Plumber.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting and repair solutions.
- Prepare for the journeyman plumber certification exam and other advanced certifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
- Duties are performed on jobsites in the DFW area.
- Exposure to inclement weather conditions.
- Duties entail exposure to hazards found in mechanical construction.
