Our progressive Engineering Team in Austin, Texas seeks a talented Senior Plumbing Engineer. We want someone with a desire to exceed expectations and a commitment to ensuring the built environment matches the design intent. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT AT O'CONNELL ROBERTSON….
The Senior Plumbing Engineer will be responsible for working with engineering team members and coordinating consultant responsibilities of studies, design, or construction documents of various scale projects.
- Collaborate regularly with architects and other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, civil, structural; to design plumbing systems that meet project requirements and local building codes.
- Create detailed plumbing drawings, and specifications for the installation of water supply, drainage and sewage systems, fire protection, medical gases and specialty water systems.
- Perform and document plumbing calculations such as fixture units, to size water supplies and drain, waste and vent systems, storm drain sizing, medical gas sizing, domestic hot water loads, natural gas sizing.
- Select plumbing materials, such as pipes, fitting valves and pumps based on system, requirements, budget and compatibility with the client requirements and Architectural design.
- Stay up to date with local plumbing codes, regulations and industry standards.
- Prepare technical reports to communicate design intent and requirements to clients, contractors and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct project site visits and field observations to ensure plumbing installation are implemented according to the design plans and quality standards. Identify and resolve design or installation issues that may arise.
WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN YOUR NEW ROLE…
We’re looking for passionate, driven self-starters. Beyond that, you’ll need…
- Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering field, desired.
- 7+ yrs experience in plumbing design or related field
- CPD or CPDT, desired
- Revit proficiency
- Knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations and industry standards.
- Knowledge of fire protection systems system, sizing, codes and regulations, desired.
- Knowledge of healthcare design including medical gas sizing, codes and regulations and terminology, desired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with sustainable plumbing practices and technologies.
