General Job Description
The role of the plant manager is to oversee the daily operations of a manufacturing or production facility. The plant manager is responsible for ensuring that production goals are met efficiently, safely, and within budgetary constraints. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage personnel, optimize processes, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement production plans to meet operational goals and customer demands. Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement corrective actions as needed. Coordinate with various departments to optimize workflow and resource allocation.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance to minimize workplace accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective measures as necessary.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices related to workplace safety and environmental protection.
- Resolve conflicts and address disciplinary issues in accordance with company policies. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and employee engagement.
- Develop and manage budgets for labor, materials, and other production expenses.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs without sacrificing quality or efficiency.
- Monitor expenditure and implement cost-saving initiatives as appropriate.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure products meet established standards. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of materials and finished products. Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and optimize inventory turnover. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to streamline supply chain processes.
- Communicate regularly with CEO/COO to provide updates on plant performance, challenges, and opportunities. Prepare and present reports on key performance metrics, production targets, and budget variances. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and resolve interdepartmental issues.
Qualifications or Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business or a related field
- (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 10 years in a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of production processes, quality management systems, and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Certification in production and quality management is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to plan and coordinate many projects simultaneously.
- Ability to understand all operations of the plant and how each impacts the other.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years’ experience as Plant Manager.
- 15 years’ experience on Manufacturing Production Floor.
- Bilingual Spanish and English Skills (Reading / Writing / Speaking).
- A Strong understanding of OSHA Standards and IATF16949.
- A Strong understanding of SAP.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $196,000.00 per year
