General Statement of Duties: The Maintenance/HVAC Technician performs a variety of general preventative and mechanical maintenance services including but not limited to repairing, servicing, and overhauling HVAC and other equipment, conducting safety inspections, performing preventive maintenance on mowers, hand tools and electric motors; repairing and replacing steam lines, valves and float values; replacing faucets, washers, seals, water pumps, and motors; making shelves, cabinets, platforms, and partitions; hanging pictures; installing light bulbs and fixtures; operating pneumatic controls and tools; responding to routine and emergency calls; landscaping; painting and polishing surfaces; and performing related work as required. The position requires on-call responsibility to be shared with co-workers on a rotation.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have considerable knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of hand and pneumatic tools; the operation and maintenance of power equipment; basic mechanics to include repairing and maintaining security devices and equipment; the principles and practices of painting as well as landscaping. Experience with plumbing, light electrical, carpentry, troubleshooting appliances and general repair is preferred.
- Must have thorough knowledge of safety regulations.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and work orders in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able and willing to work outside of normal working hours and be on-call.
- Must be able and willing to work in a variety of environments to include inclement weather.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to provide excellent customer service in a professional and courteous manner.
- Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, completion of at least 2-4 years of commercial HVAC experience.
