HVAC Service Specialist
Job Description
Position Description: Reporting to the Cleanroom Service Manager, the HVAC Service Specialist will provide technical support for commercial HVAC systems, focusing on ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of HVAC equipment in healthcare facilities, hospitals, or other commercial installations. This role is essential for troubleshooting and resolving HVAC issues, supporting clients, and ensuring all HVAC units are well-maintained and operational. The position will require hands-on experience and planning skills.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide technical support for indoor/outdoor HVAC equipment to contractors both in the field and over the phone.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including HVAC control systems, air handling units, chillers, boilers, and variable air volume (VAV) systems.
- Monitor the fleet of HVAC units to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Support clients by responding to service requests, diagnosing equipment problems, and performing necessary repairs or modifications.
- Install, configure, and test HVAC equipment and control systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Document all service activities, including installation, maintenance, and repairs.
- Optimize and enhance internal processes through the development of standardized procedures, implementation and tracking of KPIs, and creation of specifications.
- Liaise with the production team during new build projects to provide guidance and ensure quality standards.
- Provide training to customers on the proper use and maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- HVAC Engineering Technology Degree/Diploma or currently attending a mechanical or electrical degree/diploma program.
- Minimum 5 years of related commercial HVAC service experience, including HVAC control systems.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, boilers, VAV systems, and building automation systems.
- Experience with healthcare HVAC facilities, particularly hospitals, is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and suitable driving record to operate a company vehicle.
- Ability to travel to various locations in the US and Canada.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve issues effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with internal and external customers at various levels of the organization.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction.
- Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn and communicate effectively through various software programs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate through email, text, phone, and other communication channels.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to carry or pull up to 40 lbs. of test equipment and lift parts weighing a few ounces to over 100 lbs. (assistance available when lifting items over 50 lbs.).
- Frequently bends, stoops, climbs, twists, turns, and works in unusual positions using full body mobility.
Education:
- H.S. diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
- HVAC Engineering Technology Degree/Diploma preferred
Remote Work:
This role will be primarily performed indoors with limited outdoors construction. If the need arises to work remote, including nights and weekends, employees are expected to work in a secure location to protect company data and have stable high-speed internet. Employees working from home, like those in an office, should use their time wisely and constructively plan their day since there is limited daily oversight.
Additional Requirements:
This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work a general schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Employees may be required to work beyond the standard schedule to meet the deliverables and expectations of the role.
