Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Generator Technician to join our team. As a Generator Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of diesel/natural gas generators. You will work with a variety of generator types, including diesel, natural gas, and propane-powered units. This role requires strong technical knowledge, troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to ensuring the reliable operation of power generation systems. The Generator Technician will play a crucial role in providing an uninterrupted power supply to our clients.
Responsibilities:
1. Install, inspect, test, and commission electrical generators in compliance with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and local codes.
2. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil and filter changes, coolant flushes, and battery checks, to ensure the optimal performance of generators.
3. Diagnose and troubleshoot generator malfunctions, electrical and mechanical issues, and perform necessary repairs or component replacements.
4. Conduct load bank testing and other performance tests to verify the efficiency and reliability of generators.
5. Maintain accurate records of service activities, including detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and replacements performed.
6. Respond to emergency service calls and resolve generator issues in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime for clients.
7. Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other team members to understand project requirements, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction.
8. Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in generator maintenance and repair.
9. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to promote a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries.
10. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Additional technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred.
2. Proven experience as a Generator Technician or in a similar role, demonstrating expertise in generator installation, maintenance, and repair.
3. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, generators, and associated components, including control panels, wiring, voltage regulators, and transfer switches.
4. Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
5. Familiarity with generator diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and software for troubleshooting and analysis.
6. Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve generator malfunctions and mechanical issues effectively.
7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
9. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may involve lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders.
10. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
