Job Description: Bid/Estimator Specialist

Local HVAC/R company with over 25 years of experience specializing in retrofit projects is seeking a highly experienced HVAC/R Technician to compliment the organization’s superintendent. The ideal candidate may have a civil engineer background and are serious about being developed into an HVAC estimator role to accommodate a stream of commercial projects from the bidding process through the project completion. The ideal candidate will be open to learning how to procure and execute commercial HVAC/R projects, be pro-active, detail oriented, and highly organized consistently demonstrating great written and communications skills.

Key responsibilities:

BIDDING Trainee: we’re currently inundated with projects needing to be bid on. We’re in need of someone who can hit the ground running in getting up to speed to assist the current superintendant with assembling bid packages to include all elements outlined in the instructions to bidders; Ordering bid bonds; Follow up with subcontractors to ensure bid coverage; Hand delivering bids as necessary. Work in tangent with the organization's contract specialist to Manage all bidding documents.

SUBMITTALS Trainee: Willing to learn how to create and maintain submittal log; Attending pre and post meetings; Coordinating submittals for work to be self-performed by the company; Subcontractor outreach and follow-up to ensure submittals are processed in a timely manner; Coordination/collaboration with the PM; Processing and follow-up of RFIs; Project closeout.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of years commercial HVAC/R project management experience, or extensive formal training in civil engineering coupled with estimating projects preferred; Excellent organizational, written & verbal communications skills with a proactive approach to follow-up, detail oriented. Must be willing to obtain the ability to work independently following training and in tangent with the organizations Superintendent.
