Summary: Reporting to the Regional Service Manager, Service Technicians are responsible for the installation, operation, inspection and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration equipment such as pumps, condensers, compressors, evaporators, valves and other utility system components. This position is required to travel to clients in their assigned regions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for refrigeration repair and maintenance support to industrial accounts in the food & beverage, cold storage, pharmaceutical and various other industries.
- Perform routine and complex emergency service on refrigeration equipment commonly found in industrial applications.
- Identify potential maintenance risks within refrigeration systems and recommend preventive measures.
- Troubleshoot and service all types of ammonia central systems & control systems to ensure proper equipment is in place, working at optimal levels and maintained in accordance with client and safety standards.
- Identify potential maintenance risks within refrigeration systems and recommend preventive measures.
- Performs repairs as necessary such as replacing defective meters, packing valves, worn gaskets, tightening joints, etc.
- Maintains preventative maintenance logs and ensures all required paperwork is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with service standards, work instructions and customer requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to team members as needed.
- Be a customer facing ambassador for Cold Core Group and professionally communicate with customers.
- Prepare and load company trucks to ensure all necessary tools and resources are available to successfully complete all necessary tasks.
- Adhere to appliance standards and OSHA regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent refrigeration experience.
- Valid driver’s license to travel between client locations.
- 5 years Journeyman level experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Previous experience working either with refrigeration or HVAC systems.
- Ability to work after hours, over weekends and public holidays with short or no notice.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Possess basic math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Strong detail orientation and follow through skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to use various tools with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of ammonia refrigeration service technician experience
- CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) Certification
- EPA or OSHA Safety Certificate
Working Conditions: Regularly working both indoors and outdoors, which may expose them to very hot or cold temperatures. May occasionally have exposure to equipment noise and odors that are distracting and uncomfortable, as well as work in an enclosed environment from time to time which require awkward physical conditioning. May occasionally be exposed to hazardous equipment, conditions or contaminants which require a safety mindset at all times. Regular travel to customer locations is required approximately 25% of their total working time
