Dominion Energy’s Emission Monitoring Support Group (EMSG) is seeking an entry level Instrument Technician to join the team in its state of the art facility in Chester, VA.
The Instrument Technician I will be directly supervised by a qualified technician for the first 3-6 months. The Technician will be expected to perform linearity tests, opacity audits, air panel checks, and flow leak checks. They will also be expected to assist with gas and flow RATA testing and Method 30B tests, under the direction of an Instrument Technician II or III.
The Instrument Technician I will perform a multitude of tasks, including quarterly CEMS audits, and assist in the performance of Gas and Flow RATA’s as required to comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The technician will use portable pressure gauges, manometers, and other similar test equipment. The technician will perform preventive maintenance and will test flue gas, read meters, and record data as required. A technician will safely perform other tasks or duties as directed.
The successful candidate will inspect, test, service, repair, configure, calibrate, and install indicating, recording, and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, systems, and similar components in and around a power station environment and will report his or her findings to supervision.
0-2 years of electrical, mechanical, CAD/design, technical programming, industrial/commercial equipment install/repair/testing and/or electronic experience.
Associate degree in a technical area or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
Possession of a Qualified Individual certification in any group per the Source Evaluation Society is a plus
- The technician will learn or have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair various complex major and minor Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and EMSG equipment and monitoring systems. CEMS operation/maintenance experience, and/or CEMS auditing experience is strongly preferred.
- Schedule testing activities, learn to perform as Team Leads and/or members, act as a compliance test observer of contract personnel, and be able to understand, compile, and quality assure data and reports.
- Ability to work on tall stacks at a height of 300 feet or more is required.
- Ability to climb up a stack to a height of 200 feet or more and to climb down a stack from any height is also required.
- Capable of lifting up to 80 lbs. independently.
