We are a 70-year-old business with long-standing institutional (schools & churches) customers in the New Orleans area, seeking motivated individuals to learn the HVAC and mechanical construction trade. No previous HVAC experience is necessary, just an interest in how things work and the ability to learn. Must have a positive attitude and the ability to take direction and work well with others. This is a great opportunity to learn the trade working in a family-oriented environment for a local family-owned company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn skilled installation techniques for a variety of HVAC systems including traditional split system air conditioners, ductless mini splits, VRF systems, heat pumps, boilers, and chilled water systems
- Gain knowledge in how heating and cooling systems work
- Obtain proficiency in working safely with refrigerant gas
- Acquire skills to work safely with various voltages of electricity - up to 480 volts, 3 phase
- Develop knowledge related to safe handling of high-pressure nitrogen and different refrigerants
Physical Requirements:
- Safely operate in confined spaces such as attics, basements, closets, and crawl spaces
- Work comfortably and safely at elevated heights such as rooftops, ceilings, and ladders
- Perform in hot and cold temperatures
- Ability to bend, crawl. stoop, stretch, and reach
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
Salary: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour - depending on background and work experience
