We are looking for an EXPERIENCED HVAC Service Technician for the eastside of Michigan, someone who is a skilled professional responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and servicing heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in various commercial and industrial settings. There are no HVAC installations with this role.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
· 5+ year experience as a HVAC Service Technician. Residential experience is ok.
· EPA certification (Section 608).
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Maintenance: Conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
· Repair: Diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC system malfunctions and breakdowns.
· Testing: Conducting tests and performance checks to ensure that HVAC systems meet efficiency and safety standards.
· Refrigerant Handling: Properly handling and disposing of refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations.
· Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including service reports, parts used, and equipment condition.
· Customer Interaction: Interacting with clients to explain HVAC issues and offer recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
· Compliance: Staying current with local and national building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to HVAC systems.
· Emergency Services: Providing emergency HVAC services, especially during extreme weather conditions or system failures.
· Upgrades and Retrofits: Recommending and implementing energy-efficient upgrades or retrofits to improve system performance and reduce energy consumption.
· Safety: Ensuring all work is performed safely, following safety protocols, and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
· Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
· Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
· Ability to work on a tablet and/or laptop computer.
· Must have a valid Driver’s License, with a clean driving record.
· Dedicated employee to the company and their craft.
· Have their own set of hand tools.
Work Environment:
· The HVAC Service Technician must be able to perform the physical duties of such a position including but not limited to frequent walking, standing, reaching with arms, using hands and fingers, operation of variety of machinery and equipment, lifting/carrying 50+ pounds.
· They may be exposed to extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and heights, depending on the job requirements.
· Must be willing to travel and be on an on-call rotation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None
Schedule and Pay:
· Monday through Friday, first shift hours, start/end time varies.
· Hourly pay based on experience.
