Primary Purpose
Works under supervision and with guidance in monitoring, inspecting, installing, and performing preventive maintenance functions for communication, control, and electrical distribution systems in Parkland, while adhering to safety codes and regulations to ensure that all electrical systems are operating safely and at optimum performance levels.

Experience:
- Must have one year of experience in electrical repair and maintenance, or completion of a Trade School/Apprenticeship in electrical trade.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience:

- Must have a valid Texas Driver License (Class C).

- Must be able to demonstrate skill in the use of job related tools and equipment.
- Must be able to apply knowledge of high voltage safety practices.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Parkland personnel.
- Must be physically able to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.
Responsibilities:
1. Repairs standard electrical equipment and electrical distribution systems, low and high voltage up to 480 volts throughout Parkland to ensure that all systems are safe and operational.
2. Adheres to established safety regulations and guidelines to ensure that repairs are carried out in an effective and safe manner.
3. Responds to basic repair requests from Parkland staff by solving electrical problems according to established policies and procedures to provide Parkland departments with prompt and efficient maintenance service.
4. Installs new electrical circuitry comprised of conduits, cables, boxes, lighting fixtures, and equipment, while adhering to safety codes and regulations to ensure that electrical distribution systems operate effectively and according Parkland standards.
5. Monitors the performance of equipment and performs periodic inspections of electrical equipment and electrical distribution systems, low and high voltage up to 480 volts to ensure that all systems are operating safely and at maximum efficiency levels.
6. Performs preventive maintenance functions for control systems and electrical distribution systems throughout Parkland to ensure that the number and frequency of system failures is kept at a minimum.
7. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of Parkland.
8. Assists mechanical maintenance crews, contractors, and vendors by working on electrical control problems to support department guidelines for ensuring safety in modification procedures used on electrical systems throughout Parkland.
9. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the field of electrical engineering by attending seminars or workshops and reviewing various publications, and integrates this knowledge as appropriate into the job.
10. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Electrician area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
