The Landfill Solidification Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the solidification on-site plant.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manage the solidification operations by overseeing the activities of Lead Operators, Operators and/or General Laborers, who are responsible for the safe and efficient daily operations of the solidification plant.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and equipment maintenance policies; ensure solidification is operated in a manner that is in compliance with all applicable permits and regulations.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure solidification equipment is properly maintained and new equipment is obtained when necessary.
- Plan and implement the operational procedures for the receiving and disposing of waste, completion of construction projects and yard maintenance.
- Oversee refuse being received; ensure proper handling; monitors utilization of cover material; review soil reports and provide information to Engineer and/or Technician.
- Manage relationships with all outside contractors.
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the solidification and surrounding roadways through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with supervisors/employees.
- Manage Capitol Projects as assigned.
- Coordinate with third party contractors assisting with capital projects as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities
- Understand, provide leadership, and communicate safety goals and objectives.
- Orient, train and coach all staff on safety requirements, ensure safety compliance, and take appropriate action to address safety violations.
- Establish and maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards and perform monthly Safety Inspections, as assigned.
- If an incident occurs, including a near miss, complete documentation, conduct and investigation/root cause analysis and address performance/discipline issues.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Build and develop talent on the team, understand employees’ career goals and provide coaching to get employees ready for advancement with the Company.
- Supervise and manage performance; ensure tasks are appropriately delegated and completed by monitoring performance and holding employees accountable for meeting expectations.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to staff, deliver corrective action and discipline when necessary, and document all performance issues.
- Ensure employees adhere to company policies and legal regulations, engage HR and Safety Department when appropriate.
- Manage conflict and crisis; proactively anticipate, manage and constructively resolve conflicts and disagreements.
- Monitor employee time and attendance, minimizing overtime and ensuring that employees do not exceed limits established by regulatory agencies.
