Position: HVAC Helper (40 hour/12 month)

General Statement of Duties:
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, HVAC Helper is responsible for assisting HVAC Lead technicians and other trades in operation and management of HVAC systems at all locations. Primary responsibilities include preventive maintenance and repair of HVACR systems; conducts air quality monitoring testing and other related tasks.
Specific Duties:
- Conducts preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment including but not limited to filters and belt changes, lubrications, cleaning and vacuuming of equipment.
- Performs simple repairs of equipment and assists HVAC Lead technicians and vendors with larger repairs, startups and shutdowns of HVAC systems.
- Replaces filters in fixed and portable units such as air handlers, unit ventilators, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers and others.
- Replaces and adjusts belts on various equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Lubricates equipment for safe and proper operation.
- Performs all tasks in a safe manner.
- Performs air quality testing, corrective actions and responds to air quality complaints.
- Creates and maintains inventory of supplies and orders supplies from vendors in a timely fashion.
- Keeps records of filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication and other tasks by completing electronic work orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience working on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, both theoretical and practical
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance principals.
- Ability to read, write and interpret work orders.
- Ability to submit work orders, order parts and communicate issues and opportunities to the Maintenance Manager, HVAC Lead Technician trades and other staff.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to carry a load up to 50lb.
- Current and valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with email, online timekeeping, computerized maintenance management software. School Dude preferred.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations, code.

Terms of Employment:
Hours: 2pm to 10:30 pm. Must have the ability to occasionally work outside of the scheduled hours and on weekends.
Salary:
