Purpose
The purpose of the HVAC Technician’s role is to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service HVAC systems and equipment for commercial buildings. HVAC Technicians should understand HVAC and refrigeration systems, equipment, and have basic electric knowledge. They will actively communicate with the Technician Manager, operations team, and clients throughout a project’s life cycle. They will oversee the execution of work and coordinate amongst other teams to ensure delivery of quality customer service.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical problems for commercial HVAC-R systems.
- Complete installation and repairs on equipment
- Walk jobsites individually and with Account Managers, as needed.
- Attend meetings to ensure all information is gathered before starting a job.
- Take clear pre and post work pictures.
- Write detailed notes for office staff and clients.
- Follow all company safety protocols.
Qualifications
- A high school degree or G.E.D. and a two-year degree from a technical trade school is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of HVAC experience preferred.
- EPA 608 and TDLR certification required. NATE Certified preferred but not required.
- An HVAC Technicians should possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- General computer and technology proficiency required.
- Proficient operating hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.
- The ability to lift and move 50 pounds unassisted.
- Proficiency with Electrical and Voltage related repairs required.
- Excellent problem solving and customer service skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of the following HVAC systems is preferred: Split Systems, Mini-Split Systems, AHU’s, Exhaust Fans, RTU’s – up to 50 tons, Water Source Heat Pumps - up to 15 tons, Self-Contained Systems, CRAC Units, HVAC Chillers, VFD's, Pumps - able to replace, align, and startup, Exhaust Fans - Centrifugal Up Blast, Roof, and In-line, and Control Valves. Boiler pumps and circulation, Boiler planned maintenance, external Boiler controllers, and Boiler troubleshooting and system installation.
