SALARY: $60,000+ DOE
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The position of Mechanical Designer provides the skills necessary to design PHOENIX products and projects that meet the needs of the Customer.
NATURE OF THE POSITION:
The Mechanical Designer provides a fabrication package and component description that defines the PHOENIX product in sufficient detail for a subcontractor to manufacture and assemble the product in a manner that assures operational parameters and customer specification requirements are met including quality and workmanship requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 70% Provide a fabrication package free of errors in order for the fabricators to cost effectively manufacture and assemble the PHOENIX products to meet the customer's and company's requirements.
- 10% Provide component/material selection and specifications to allow Purchasing to procure project/product required items that meet the Customer's needs.
- 10% Provide assistance to the Project Manager in the timely and cost-effective completion of projects.
- 5% Provide equipment layout drawings for use by Sales Managers to explain equipment systems with prospective customers.
- 5% Perform administrative functions such as prepare reports and develop and provide general company support.
KNOW-HOW:
- Requires 5 years of mechanical design within an equipment, systems, or facilities design environment.
- Knowledge and experience in computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, and word processing a plus; AutoCAD a must.
- Oral and written communications and people skills are essential.

High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
MECHANICAL DESIGN: 5 years (Required)
PROBLEM SOLVING:
The major challenge of this position is to complete a design on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with the customer’s requirements and specifications. The Mechanical Designer must identify the actions required to meet this challenge and initiate activity to assure accomplishment.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Days and hours of work are approximately Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the ability to work outside of business hours from time to time as required by PHOENIX.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Mechanical Designer is accountable for his/her design decisions, work quality, and their impact on the product costs and product performance. The position is directly accountable for his/her personal safety, the image that the customer has of PHOENIX, and for performing all assigned duties in a thorough and professional manner.
