Job Summary
The Lead Install Mechanic in HVAC plays a key role in the installation process of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position requires strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to quality workmanship. The Lead Install Mechanic will lead a team of installers, coordinate installation projects, and ensure that installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, industry regulations, and local building codes
Responsibilities
Job responsibilities of a Lead Install Mechanic include, but are not limited to:
- Installation Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of installers to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other team members to schedule installations, allocate resources, and ensure project timelines are met.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in installing various HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, and ventilation systems
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during all installation activities, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quality inspections to verify that installations meet company standards, manufacturer specifications, and customer expectations.
- Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to address questions, provide updates on installation progress, and ensure satisfaction with completed installations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of installation activities, including project documentation, equipment specifications, and service reports.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to installers to enhance their technical skills, safety awareness, and job performance.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of equipment, tools, and materials needed for installations, and coordinate with procurement teams to replenish supplies as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and efficiency gains in the installation process.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in HVAC installation preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC installation, with demonstrated proficiency in installing a variety of HVAC systems.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants (Type I and Type II or Universal).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
