Job Description: HVAC Service Technician – Controls & Installation
(This is a contract to union position)
We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Service Technician specializing in controls and installation to join our team. This role involves installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and programming HVAC control systems, including Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct Digital Controls (DDC), and energy management systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with HVAC mechanical systems, control wiring, and system integration.
Key Responsibilities:1. HVAC Controls Installation & Setup
- Install and configure HVAC control systems, sensors, actuators, and wiring.
- Program and integrate BAS/DDC controllers (e.g., Trane, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell).
- Ensure proper communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) are set up.
2. System Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair HVAC control issues, including faulty sensors, actuators, or communication errors.
- Perform preventive maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to test and calibrate system functionality.
3. Equipment Installation & Commissioning
- Install HVAC equipment (RTUs, chillers, boilers, air handlers, VAV systems) and integrate controls.
- Work with project managers and engineers to ensure proper system functionality.
- Conduct system start-up, testing, and commissioning.
4. Customer Support & Documentation
- Provide technical support and training to clients on control system operation.
- Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation of work performed.
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NEC, and local building codes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
✅ HVAC Certification (EPA 608) or equivalent experience
✅ Experience with BAS/DDC systems (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Trane)
✅ Knowledge of low-voltage control wiring, schematics, and HVAC system troubleshooting
✅ Familiarity with networking and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks)
✅ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
✅ Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
