Job Description Provides effective and high level of maintenance service to plumbing equipment and mechanical system support. Ensures, within all regulatory agency requirements, that building equipment is maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition to provide an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff. This role requires a high level of professionalism, technical competence, and the ability to work independently. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in applicable technical skills, two (2) or more of those years should include Journeyman plumbing experience
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed plumber
Graduation from a technical or vocational trade program
Previous maintenance work experience in a healthcare environment
Trouble shoot and planned maintenance experience to medical gas systems
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record
Journeyman Plumber certificate
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read blueprints and schematics
Ability to use and maintain Sewer Snake machines
Cut, assemble, and install pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to work with limited supervision
Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, word processing programs
Ability to troubleshoot issues, use reasoning logic and communicate with the individuals who installed the system
Ability to perform a variety of duties, involving frequent changes of tasks which require different aptitudes, technologies, procedures, working conditions without loss of efficiency or composure
Knowledge and experience of backflow preventers
Ability to drive and operate Children's vehicles
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for operating and driving Children's vehicles throughout the organization as needed and to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs.
Performs planned and general maintenance functions on systems and equipment, including but are not limited to inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, cleaning, and repairing drains, Drain Waste and Vent (DWV), toilets, water lines, P-Traps, water leaks, valves, faucets, sink and medical gas systems.
Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings by soldering and/or brazing fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes.
Maintains accurate, legible records/logs of all work/rounds made in mechanical rooms and has a thorough knowledge of the major building systems operations and valve locations.
Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance work orders service requests using CMMS.
Keeps tools, equipment, and mechanical rooms in safe, clean, and organized working condition according to Children’s standards.
Assists supervisor in purchasing parts, supplies, and materials necessary for proper maintenance of the systems and equipment in accordance with departmental procedures.
Meet all in-service requirements, complies with all system policies and procedures, and understands and complies with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
