Exegistics is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer (Maintenance) for our valued client in the S. Detroit / Brownstown, MI area.
This is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity with excellent benefits and the client is offering possible relocation assistance.
5+ years of Commercial Laundry/Linen/Uniform Services experience is highly preferred, but NOT required.
Pay: $95 -105K

Assistant Chief Engineer (Maintenance) Major Goals:
Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the facility. Performs the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Assistant Chief Engineer (Maintenance) ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Coordinates activities of workers fabricating, modifying or repairing machines, tools, or equipment.
- Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
- Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor, materials, equipment, and utilities.
- Reviews new projects and discusses equipment needs and modifications with management to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
- Directs training and orientation of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
- Directs ongoing training program to keep maintenance employee’s knowledge current with technology advances.
- Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
Assistant Chief Engineer (Maintenance) GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Directly supervises 5-6 employees in the maintenance department, and 1 -2 janitors.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Assistant Chief Engineer (Maintenance) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, coworkers and subordinates.
- Class 1-A Boilers License and maintenance electrical license are desirable.
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment
- Responsible for the maintenance programs within the plant. Perform preventive maintenance on machinery according to daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly maintenance schedules
- Maintain an inventory of replacement parts within budget guidelines. Report deficiencies to the Operations Manager
- Secure and control all maintenance tools, equipment and parts.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
