Job Overview
The Utility Systems Repair Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position involves monitoring and maintaining equipment, conducting data collection, and performing mechanical tasks to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
Duties
- Stands watch in a large utility plant, with prime responsibility for operation, maintenance, servicing, repair and monitoring all equipment.
- Operate and monitor water treatment and wastewater treatment systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Analyze data collected from various processes to identify trends and make informed decisions.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including plumbing tasks as needed.
- Utilize distributed control systems to manage operations effectively.
- Conduct regular inspections of tanks and machinery to ensure proper functioning.
- Build and repair infrastructure related to water treatment processes.
- Apply basic math skills for calculations related to chemical dosing and flow rates.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in operating heavy machinery or utility systems.
- Knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems.
- Familiarity with tanker operations is a plus.
- HVAC experience and steam boiler system experience a plus.
- Experience in water treatment or wastewater treatment processes is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately.
- Basic math proficiency for operational calculations.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing technologies within the field.
